Description: Except for the 1931 Die Nachtigall, a work very much of its period in its freely tonal expressionism, everything here is late, from the 1974 Von Vorn to the 1979 Im Tal. All are serial (Im Tal, quite dramatic and often viscerally powerful, is a first recording) but demonstrate that, unlike many composers of the following generation or two, Krenek did not abandon such virtues as translucent lyricism, dramatic utterance and uneasy humor.
