RODOLPHE KREUTZER (1766-1831): Violin Concertos No. 17 in G, No. 18 in E Minor and No. 19 in D Minor.
Catalogue Number: 11M035
Description: Kreutzer's last three concertos (1805-1810) use a Beethovenian-sized orchestra with a craftsman's touch while demanding of the soloist purity and depth of tone, energy and complete technical mastery; musicologist Boris Schwarz ranks No. 19 along with Rode's No. 7 and Viotti's No. 22 as "the most perfect example of the French Violin School". The notes tell us that Naxos "plans to record all of Kreuzter's violin concertos." Axel Strauss (violin), San Francisco Conservatory Orchestra; Andrew Mogrelia.
