Description: Two more symphonies firmly in the Mendelssohn-Schumann-Brahms mould, the second (1880) fresh and melodious, lighter in mood than the 1894 Fifth. A Tennyson quote is appended to the earlier work but the later is more significantly tied to Milton's poem, the relevant verses of which are provided in the booklet.
