Description: Altwiener Singspiel is the genre here, a stylized and nostalgic representation of life in the “good old days” of the first half of the 19th century in Biedermeier Vienna. The work’s title is the name of a song by composer Joseph Drechsler (1782-1852) which gave this work’s librettist the idea for a fictional episode in Drechsler’s life. Fall’s music is warm and affectionate, recalling sweet Old Viennese melodies. No libretto.
