Description: French female composers are the subject here with some pieces not otherwise available on disc, especially Bonis’ 1926 suite which further illustrates her stature as a professional composer, on a different level than, say, Viardot’s perfumed and artificially colored salon pieces. Not all of the Chaminade pieces are currently available either. A PAL DVD containing a 49-minute discussion of women composers by French artists (and some clips of the current performers playing them) will probably play on most computers but, at any rate, comes at no extra cost. Sara Chenal (violin), Jean-Pierre Ferey (piano).
