His first sonata (1909) has only three movements and is light and Mendelssohnian in character whereas his second from 1911 adds a furiant-derived scherzo as a fourth movement. Markedly more serious than its predecessor, there are Brahmsian tones in its first movement and an expressive and passionate slow movement. Szymon Marciniak (double bass), Joanna Lawrynowicz (piano).
