Description: Chamber music by the man whose symphonies “sound like Brahms” in the same way Ferdinand Ries symphonies “sound like Beethoven”. Of course Records International collectors will think of Heinrich von Herzogenberg when thinking of 19th century chamber music which sounds like Brahms and rightly so. What about these trios from Gernsheim? The First (no date given), while livelier and more animated than the first trio by Eduard Franck (see a two releases above), is fully in the Mendelssohn/Schumann tradition but there are echoes of Brahms in the Second, which dates from 1879. Arensky Trio.
