Description: Elsner’s works are firmly in the Mozart-Haydn Classical tradition although with recognizable Polish finales. The piano quartet comes from 1805 and also points toward early Romanticism. Dates for Kania’s work are uncertain but his trio has a three-note motive in the first movement you'll swear you've known all your life, a light and Mendelssohnian scherzo, a slow movement with much more depth and an allegro con fuoco finale which is as advertised. Oddly, Dux duplicates repertoire first recorded in 2007 and 2008 by Acte Préalable. Ewa Andruszkiewicz (violin), Dariusz Wołczyk (viola), Mirosław Makowoski (cello), Rafał A. Łuszczewski (piano).
