Description: Born in Australia, student of Busoni, moved to the U.S. in 1910 where he taught at Peabody, Curtis and Juilliard where his students included Copland, Alex North and Barber, virtuoso pianist on three continents, Boyle is the latest utterly forgotten composer whom not many of us can claim to have heard of. Firmly anchored in late Romantic style, these three works will warm the hearts of any collector of Lisztian/Rachmaninovian passion and virtuosity: Boyle, like them, was a brilliant pianist and knew how to write optimally for his instrument. Yes, he wrote a piano concerto but you don't really think you're going to hear that anytime soon, do you? Timothy Young (piano).
