Description: Continuing their excursions outside Europe, cpo brings us three of this Argentinian composer's four chamber works. Composed in 1917 and 1918, these pieces just precede the beginning of Gaito's nationalist period but show some characteristics of that style to come in rhythms (malambo in the first movement of the quintet) and mood (the dark, tango-ish melancholy of the first movement of the trio); there is also much lyricism which, due to the composer's father's national origin, can justifiably be called Italianate.
