Description: A hypothetical Abendmusik such as Buxtehude was wont to put on for the general public in Lübeck during the five Sundays before Christmas. Leading the way is the surviving work of Buxtehude's which requires the largest number of performers (24): the Benedicam whose two cornets, dulcian, giant shawm, three trombones and four trumpets make for a brazen splendor along with the strings and voices. Three of the other six works here have extended brass participation while the other three are simpler works for voices and strings. German-English texts. La Capella Ducale, Musica Fiata; Roland Wilson.
