VALERY GAVRILIN (1939-1999): 10 Sketches for Piano Four Hands, ANTON ARENSKY (1861-1906): Suite No. 2 for 2 Pianos, Op. 23 “Silhouettes”, DMITRI SHOSTAKOVICH (1906-1975): Concertino for 2 Pianos, Op. 94.
Catalogue Number: 08R070
Description: Gavrilin’s three sets of Sketches appeared during the 1970s and are brash, witty and delightful miniatures (Troika, The Sound of the Bells, The Little Clock, Galop, Valse, Tarantella, etc.) which often have a sharply ironic sense of humor à la Shostakovich but whose virtuosity and sheer elan will surely leave you smiling. The bad news is that there was plenty of room for all 18 of them... Irina Shishkina, Maya Berdieva (pianos).
