Description: Only the second recording of the Scharwenka sonata from 1877 which is still rather in the shadow of Schumann but written by a virtuoso to play himself. This young German piano lion, winner of several awards including 2012 Young Artist of the Year in his home country, adds two otherwise unrecorded short pieces from the same period while making his case for the not highly thought-of Tchaikovsky sonata from the year following the Scharwenka.
