Description: Karg-Elert and Sibelius wrote or transcribed all these works for harmonium and piano but an organ is used because no suitable harmoniums exist in Finland. The organist produces a sound as close to that of the harmonium as possible; only the slight sighing of the harmonium at the ends of pieces is missing. The Pellás transcription is surprisingly effective and the 13-minute In memoriam, the first of the half-hour-long set of Poesien is even better. And you won’t lack for value - the CD is only 12 seconds short of 86 minutes! Annikka Konttori-Gustafsson (piano), Jan Lehtola (organ of the Sovituksenkirkko, Hollola, Finland).
