Description: Part of a German project called “The Scar” dealing with composers killed in action in World War I, this release unexpectedly gives us a 14-minute work by Butterworth we’ve never heard of before. Dating from 1910, it’s in five short movements and in imbued with the pastoralism and folk-song qualities which make his few other surviving works so attractive. Texts included. Barbara Krieger (soprano), Horenstein Ensemble.
