ROBERT KAHN (1865-1951): Complete Piano Trios - No. 1 in E, Op. 19, No. 2 in E Flat, Op. 33, No. 3 in C Minor, Op. 35 and No. 4 in E Minor, Op. 72.

Description: Written between 1893 and 1914, all of these trios are very melodic and very conservative in style, brim-full of heart-easing and ear-pleasing tunes with shades of darker emotions only on hand in some of the slow movements. The first three are in three movements with scherzo elements contained in one of them while the Fourth is in serenade-style: five movements of the same comfortable and attractive music. Kahn was a big admirer of Brahms and you can file these beautiful pieces on the shelf right next to the other major one - Herzogenberg. 2 CDs. Hyperion Trio.
