Description: Cambini's 114 quintets were written after 1794 for a wealthy Parisian chemist and industrialist for private performances in his home's salon. Like Boccherini, Cambini's are for two cellos; the first violin and first cello have soloistic parts and the works are technically demanding (his 79 Symphonies concertantes and 174 string quartets, one contemporary critic noted "can only be performed by virtusosos".
