Description: This would seem to be the first recording available in this country of music by the son of the famous Polish composer Henryk Mikolaj. Not surprisingly, Mikolaj takes his father's late style as a starting point as both of these works have significant periods of the contemplative reverie of the latter - especially the 20-minute Nocturne of 2011 which is dedicated to his later father. A predominantly contemplative atmosphere is interrupted by a six-minute segment of faster, more rhythmically boisterous music before returning to a flowing, song-like melodic line. There's a bit more on view in the 2000 Concerto Notturno which has two fast movements, one of which is evidently of folk provenance. No texts. Kaja Danczowska (violin), Anna Górecka (piano), Silesian Chamber Orchestra; Miroslaw Jacek Blaszczyk.
