ROBERT FUCHS (1847-1927): Serenades No. 3, Op. 21, No. 4, Op. 51 and No. 5, Op. 53.
Catalogue Number: 06N054
Description: The second and final edition of the marvelously tuneful Serenades, for which Fuchs was most remembered after he died. No. 3 (1878) is quite Brahmsian with a bracing Hungarian finale while No. 4, from 17 years later, adds a pair of horns to the string orchestra, adding to the work's richness and expressivity. No. 5 followed close on and anticipates Mahler in its Adagio while its finale nods to the dancing Vienna of the Strauss family. Cologne Chamber Orchestra; Christian Ludwig.
