DANIEL STEIBELT (1765-1823): Grand Concert for Harp and Orchestra, FRANCESCO PETRINI (1744-1819): Harp Concerto No. 1, Op. 25, MARTIN-PIERRE D'ALVIMARE (1772-1839): Harp Concerto No. 2 in C Minor, Op. 30.

Description: The earliest concerto is Petrini's from 1786, bright, fresh and Mozartian (except that Mozart's harp-writing was pianistic and Petrini's is actually for the harp). A different aspect of the instrument is provided by the dark, turbulent minor-key drama of D'Alvimare (written after 1803), against which the soloist sparkles like rays of sunshine through storm clouds.
