Description: Late 19th century music for string orchestra from Spain - something you don't run across very often! Melody, simplicity of utterance and unpretentious harmonic development are the rules in music which ranges from the overture-like work by Hurtado to the agreeable salon-style world of most of the remainder. Chapí's is an excerpt from a zarzuela and Pérez' a transcription of a string quartet movement but the remainder appear to be originals. Camerata del Prado; Tomás Garrido.
