Description: A Swiss composer committted to tonality throughout his long career, his works are neither epigonal nor retrogressive, but have a personal voice. His large-scale string works (the quintet from 1919 and the quartet from 1921) are lush, colorful sound paintings full of passion and sophistication that can compete with Reger, Mahler and the young Richard Strauss.
