Catalogue Number: 05Q039
Description: Yet more examples of Onslow's harmonically innovative, metrically playful, now Haydnesque, now Mozartian, charming, fluid and elegant quartets. Opp. 8-10 all were written in 1814 and the three chosen here are also influenced by folk music - Op. 8/3 has Spanish flavor and Op. 10/3 is one of a trilogy infused with tunes from the Auvergne. Why aren't these quartets better known? Second release of Onslow from these period-instrument players who all started out in Les Talens Lyrique. And yes, it's another Palazetto Bru Zane-supported production. Quatuor Ruggieri.
