Description: Granados left two manuscript versions of a concerto movement of around 250 bars of music which pianist/conductor/composer Mestre has reconstructed and filled out where necessary, lasting over 18 minutes here. Since there are no traces of further movements, he has orchestrated the Danza española No. 2 as a slow movement and the Allegro de concierto as a finale. Also a first recording is a version of Albéniz's Rapsodia which was used by him and Tomas Bréton (who orchestrated his concerto) when they performed it in the Basque town of San Sebastián in 1889. Like another surviving version, it may be by Albéniz himself or also by Bretón. Melani Mestre (piano), BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra; Martyn Brabbins.
