Description: Some truly obscure attractive repertoire here, most of it short and most of it, unlike many of the recordings on this label, in studio recordings (14 of the 23 tracks). Everything is tonal and approchable. Claoué’s 11-minute work was commissioned by Katsaris to close his Salzburg-Vienna complete Mozart piano concerto cycle and represents the composer’s reactions to the emotions Mozart inspires in him. Katsaris’ nine-minute improvisation on French film music includes Auric (Moulin Rouge), Kosma (Les Feuilles mortes) and Legrand (The Thomas Crown Affair, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, Les Damoiselles de Rochefort) and Francis Lai (A Man and a Woman). Cyprien Katsaris (piano).
