Description: Orr, a private composer with a private income, fell in love early with the German lied, especially Wolf’s. Not that much of his song output sounds particularly Germanic but it doesn’t belong to the English folksong revival either (although, again, there are a few points of contact there too). He was encouraged and aided with publication of some of his songs by Philip Heseltine (Peter Warlock) and also received support from Delius. Since he wrote only 40 compositions, this would appear to be one of two volumes. Texts included. Mark Stone (baritone), Simon Lepper (piano).
