Description: World Premiere Recordings of Foulds’ early (1908-09) composition for his own instrument which, except for a few unexpected modulations here and there, occupies completely the world of late 19th century Romanticism (Elgar, Brahms, Bruch, Tchaikovsky...). Sainsbury’s 1999 work which, if it were not for a few aspects of somewhat repetitive post-Romanticism in its first movement and late 20th century dance elements in its finale, would seem even more conservative than it is.
