Description: Brazilian and Mexican music for cello and guitar, centered around Ponce's big, four-movement (29 min.) sonata of 1922, a richly Romantic piece which might be the most lushly melodic and attractive of all his music. Gnattali's 13-minute sonata from 1969 marries cello and guitar for a voluptuous and exotic result while Kavindu's and Gamboa's short pieces are attractively neo-romantic. Gustavo Martín (cello), Alethia Lozano (flute), Juan Carlos Laguna (guitar), Juan Antonio Santoyo (piano).
