Description: Canal was the Prix de Rome winner of 1920 and, while at the Villa Medicis on her stipend, she wrote this lovely four-movement, 24-minute sonata in 1922. It is so attractive, with such winning melodies and a style taking equally from Franck and from Ravel, that's it's worth getting even considering its couplings if you're a real passionate violin repertoire collector. Guillaume Chilemme (violin), Nathanaël Gouin (piano).
