Description: French flutist Pahud pays tribute to Jean-Pierre Rampal with this disc of fairly uncommon repertoire which the latter helped rediscover with recordings from the 50s through the 80s. The Gianella is the rarest, exhibiting the influence of bel canto opera in its first movement and grace and elegance elsewhere while Patrick Gallois has recently (02N032) done the flute version of the Pleyel (which also exists in versions for cello and for clarinet). Emmanuel Pahud (flute), Basel Chamber Orchestra; Giovanni Antonini.
