Description: Post-Impressionist delight in the everyday and the absurd - that's the idea behind this collection of 30 French mélodies and four short piano pieces. Surrealist (absurdist?) texts by Cocteau account for 14 of them; five circus songs by Adrien Copperie are not much more logical and the group La Voyante (The Clairvoyant) by Sauguet is based on texts attributed to Nostradamus but it would have been a Nostradamus with a Parisian address by the looks of them! Lots of bold, bright, nose-thumbing fun. French-English texts. Céline Ricci (soprano), Daniel Lockert (piano).
