Description: The former were written in two batches, 1765 and 1770, and are really character pieces which use the Polish folk dance only as a starting point for music which anticipates early Romanticism. The sonata dates from 1747 yet is quite up to date with similar works written by Haydn and Mozart twenty years later. The harpsichord is a copy of Johann Sebastian's which he may have given to Wilhelm Friedemann as early as 1733. Siegbert Rampe (harpsichord, tangent piano).
