HILDING ROSENBERG (1892-1985): Symphony No. 3, Symphony No. 6 “Sinfonia semplice”.
Catalogue Number: 04L008
Description: This new release (recorded in 2004, so probably not the beginning of a complete cycle) replaces the elderly 1960 and 1966 recordings of the same works once reissued on Phono Suecia CD. The 1939 Third is possibly the most Sibelian symphony you’ll hear not by Sibelius, its origin being a radio play with recitations based on the novel “The Four Ages of Man” by Romain Rolland and its progression originally having been Child-Boy-Youth-Man. The 1951 Sixth is recongizably by the same composer but more distilled and compact, in almost classical form. Even Scandinavian symphony collectors with the older versions will want this for the sound quality and dynamic range of this new recording. Göteborg Symphony Orchestra; Mario Venzago.
