Description: Like Soler in Spain, the Portuguese Seixas studied with Scarlatti and his binary sonatas are like Soler's in their resemblance to Scarlatti's famous trove in this genre. However, the Lisbon earthquake destroyed much of Seixas' manuscripts and only around 100 of his sonatas survive, very little of which has been recorded. Thus, this release offers 38 minutes of rare music (Soler, however, is the beneficiary of a just-started complete cycle on Brilliant Classics). Richard Lester (harpsichord).
