Description: Krein is known as the founder of a Russian Jewish school of composition but these are eaerly pieces. The Esquisses of 1901 show him exploring fin de siècle post-Romanticism with a whiff of (feigned?) ennui and some Debussian influences while the undated (but published in 1911, the same year as Op. 2) move toward a mix of Scriabin and Rachmaninovian Romanticism. Anastasia Seifetdinova (piano).
