Description: There’s no brief way to characterize 21 compositions making up 158 minutes of music and which date from 1930 to 1970 but it can be pointed out that only two are atonal, several are in the “incantatory”, “primitive” style of the orchestral Danses Rituelles (especially the 1944 Chant de Linos and the 1948 Hopi Snake Dance), some of the rest are downright neo-romantic and the Petite Suite (1947) would be right at home in a smoky cabaret. Lots to enjoy! 2 CDs. Various performers.
