Description: This simple, homely 17-minute mass was composed by Fauré and his student in 1881 for the fishermen of the village of Villerville on the coast of Normandy which was the seat of the country home of a wealthy art-loving couple who invited musicians there. Originally for choir and harmonium, it was instrumented the next year by Messager – only the Agnus Dei was orchestrated by Fauré. Mädchenchor Hannover, Gudrun Schröfel (conductor).
