Description: A rare outing on disc for the 1909 Sinfonia Sacra, a work whose composition and use of the hymn Nun komm' der Heiden Heiland were both suggested to Widor by Albert Schweitzer as suitable thanks for the former's election to the Berlin Academy of the Arts. The symphony (1882) cobbles together the outer movements of the sixth organ symphony and the slow movement from the op. 13 symphony for organ and orchestra. Christian Schmitt (organ), Bamberg Symphony Orchestra; Stefan Solyom. SACD hybrid.
