Description: 75 minutes of World Premiere Recordings of Ukrainian piano music which will satisfy all but the most avant-garde-minded collectors. Revutsky and Kosenko are firmly in the late Romantic tradition of Rachmaninov and Medtner while Ukrainian folk music enters the picture with Kolessa and remains the most important element for both generations of Schamos, although Kolessa also shows awareness of Bartók and one of Igor Schamo’s Ukrainian Suite pieces is almost pure Debussy. One of the best collections of its type in recent years. Violina Petrychenko (piano).
