ALEXANDER ERNST FESCA (1820-1849): Piano Trios No. 2 in E Minor and No. 5 in B Minor, Op. 46.
Catalogue Number: 01Q029
Reference: 777 862-2
Description: Like his father, eight of whose string quartets we offered in November of 2013 (11P028), Alexander Fesca also died of tuberculosis but he didn't even reach his 29th birthday. So we can hardly blame him, like Schumann did, for not achieving the depths of Schubert and Mendelssohn in these two highly enjoyable trios dating from the early 1840s. They are impeccably constructed (which Schumann also admitted) and full of attractive, lyrical melodies and are a more than welcome addition to the early Romantic discography. Paian Trio.
