Description: Less known than the popularity of Corelli's violin sonatas all over Europe is the fact that there were also many arrangments of them for viola da gamba. Those recorded here are from a manuscript complete Op. 5 arrangement possibly from the cirlce of Johann Schenck (which explains his presence on this disc as well). Handel's, originally from his Op. 1, was designated by him as also playable on the gamba. Friederike Heumann (gamba), Patrick Sepec (cello), Eduardo Egüez (theorbo), Dirk Börner (harpsichord, organ).
