Description: Our second Mixa release (see 12K009) brings us another piece based on Icelandic folk melodies (1958), this one quite Sibelian in character, a rugged symphony (1969) with Icelandic connections as well, this one also very brooding and Nordic, with a powerful central funeralmarch in memory of Mixa's friend, the conductor Joseph Keilberth. Dating from 1975, his Fifth has the same intimations of Allan Pettersson which we mentioned in relation to the Second on the first volume - grey, anxious and uneasy with prominent snare drum punctuations.
