Description: This recital opens with works by the two most progressive and astounding gifted composer-organists of the 20th century in France and continues with Belgian composers (Demessieux and Peeters both also getting other releases this month entirely of their own music). Much of what's here is rarely heard or recorded, including Jongen's 16-minute sonate, really a tumultuous introduction and variations on a modal Flemish folksong-like melody, whose only other recording is on an obscure Dutch complete cycle. Peter Wright (organ of Southwark Cathedral).
